Academics
At Oakridge School, our academic program is intentionally structured to cultivate intellectual rigor, interdisciplinary inquiry, and 21st-century readiness across all grade levels. All curriculum offerings are aligned with the California Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and relevant national frameworks, ensuring that students build deep, transferable knowledge in each content area.

Our elementary program establishes a strong academic foundation while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and character development. Students engage with core subjects such as:
Language Arts (phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing)
Mathematics (place value, operations, measurement, geometry)
Science (basic biology, earth science, and hands-on experiments)
Social Studies (local history, geography, cultural awareness)
Visual Arts, Music, and Physical Education
Through integrated projects and experiential learning, students develop literacy, numeracy, and collaborative problem-solving skills that prepare them for success in upper grades.

The middle school curriculum expands intellectual expectations and supports students in developing a growth mindset and academic independence. Instruction is delivered at increasing levels of depth across subjects:
Language Arts (literary analysis, expository and persuasive writing)
Mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, data analysis)
Science (life, physical, and earth sciences with lab-based learning)
Social Studies (ancient civilizations, world history, civics)
Foreign Languages (Mandarin, Spanish, or French)
Advisory programs and enrichment electives reinforce study skills, ethical reasoning, and social-emotional growth during this critical developmental stage.

Our high school curriculum prepares students for admission to competitive colleges and for future academic and professional pursuits. Students complete a comprehensive course sequence that includes:
Four years of college-preparatory English
Three years of mathematics (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus)
Two to three years of laboratory sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
Two years of world language study (same language sequence)
Two years of social studies (World History, U.S. History, Government/Civics)
One year of visual/performing arts
One year of elective coursework
Students have access to Advanced Placement (AP) offerings, capstone research projects, and individual academic counseling to support their postsecondary goals. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, original inquiry, academic writing, and leadership development.
